Spencer P. Jones, an icon of guitar playing and general badarsery, is in a battle with his liver, which has kicked back badly on him.

The NZ-born veteran of many decades and many bands – The Johnnys, Cuban Heels, Beasts of Bourbon, etc – hasn’t been able to work for a while due to his illness.

Benefit gigs have already been staged in Melbourne, Geelong, Perth and Brisbane. Now Sydney has finally gotten its act together with a Spencer benefit organised for the Factory Theatre this Friday, June 24.

The Johnnys, Hoodoo Gurus, Died Pretty, Straight Arrows, Young Docteurs, Murray from The (original) Wiggles and more will come together to raise funds to help cover Spencer’s doctor’s bills and living costs.

If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute to help Spencer you can do so by donating to this fund: https://www.gofundme.com/ccr2fbfg
